Porlock Vale Campsite - camping at Holt Ball Farm, Exmoor National Park

Glorious quiet camping available in this beautiful farmland meadow on this working Exmoor farm

We all know the wonderful, healing benefits of moving around in Nature. How relaxing we find colours like green and blue and how beautiful landscapes, ancient trees and burbling streams lift our spirits and help us feel healthier, calmer - and more creative. Nature is a great healer and Exmoor National Park offers one of the best opportunities to experience it. With its spectacular rugged moorland, river valleys, beautiful coastline and famous Dark Skies - this is the place to get out into Nature and ground and nurture yourself.

Our peaceful pop up campsite, on this working farm on the National Trust Holnicote Estate, is adjacent to over 5000 acres of moorland wilderness. Explore the moorland, countryside, characterful local villages and South West Coastal Path - with Porlock and Minehead within easy reach for amenities.
Open from 12 July to 8 September.

Porlock Vale Campsite - peaceful, tranquil camping in spacious farmland meadow with spectacular views

Porlock Vale Campsite - Enjoy our peaceful pop up campsite in this beautiful, spacious 9 acre farmland meadow at Holt Ball Farm, on the National Trust Holnicote Estate in Exmoor National Park

There are spectacular, panoramic views towards North Hill and Selworthy ForestHurlestone Point and Grabbist. Behind the field rises the spectactular Dunkery Commons moorland, which is easily accessible via the bridleway through the farm driveway, leading up to Robin Howe, Webber's Post and Dunkery Beacon.

Porlock Vale Campsite is conveniently located to explore the surrounding Exmoor countryside, moorland, woodland and coast, including Bossington Beach and Porlock Weir, with miles of beautiful walking and cycling. Porlock, Minehead and Dunster are within a few miles, with their pubs, restaurants, cafes and shops and the delightful villages of Luccombe, Horner, Selworthy and Allerford are nearby, including tearooms.

Magnificent mature trees, woodland, hedges and undulating pasture create an idyllic landscape where you can enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful area,  with myriad wildlife including buzzards, foxes, hares, rabbits, beavers and water voles - and you may even spot some wild red deer passing through. The National Trust Holnicote Estate is progressing rewilding and land recovery projects across the area, making it fascinating for campers interested in the environment, biodiversity, climate change and how farming here is adapting to benefit  nature. This is the home of the Exmoor Pony Project where ponies graze in herds on the farm.

You can also enjoy Exmoor's amazing Dark Skies at this beautiful site.

Respect for Nature: Our campsite theme of 'Peace and Tranquility' respects the abundance of wildlife and farm animals living here. So, no amplified music and loud noise, with quiet hours after 10pm. Please use the recycle and rubbish bins provided and leave no trace as this field reverts to its beautiful natural state at the end of the camping season.

On the campsite, there is access to drinking water as well as washing up facilities, toilets and showers.

We can accept tents and tent trailers throughout the camping period, and also a small number of camper vans. The narrow lanes are not suitable for caravans or motorhomes.

This is a new camping field for 2024. In 2020 we ran Porlock Vale Campsite in a field lower down the farm and achieved 70 x 10/10 Pitch Up Reviews from delighted campers. We look forward to welcoming you back for 2024 which is situated closer to the farm and very conveniently located for the bridleway leading up the farm's drive and directly onto the Dunkery Commons.
